DELTA L/B will deploy to the Southern Straits Yacht Race as a safety and communications boat for the various 36 hour races. DELTA will sail Thursday afternoon for West Vancouver Yacht Club, to participate in the briefings and dinner in the clubhouse. Friday morning, DELTA will sail for a position near the start line, and then accompany sailboats participating in the long, overnight race. Friday evening, DELTA will act primarily as a communications vessel, linking race HQ and the widely dispersed racers; DELTA will also be available for immediate notice search and rescue duties. To this end, the crew should contain some of CLI's most experienced first aiders. The last race should end late Saturday afternoon. On completion, DELTA will return to Ladner Station.
If you can crew for DELTA for the entire time period, this is optimal. If you could only join on Friday morning, at West Van Yacht Club, you will have to make your own way, preferably being dropped off; however, if you had to leave your vehicle at WVYC, DELTA would drop you off there at race end; please let John know if you could only sail starting Friday morning, so that we can plan the crew timetable(s). As usual, for an overnighter, bring sleepingbag/air mattress, etc.
